The Minister of Education inaugurated, on 20 February, the Custom Learning Space of the Association of Schools of Freixo (AEF). It is a space built with the participation of several entities, among them Famasete, for the formation and realization of activities of curriculum enrichment, available to the whole local community, but also for all those who wish to develop activities related to education.
The AEF has been following a consolidated path of innovation and technology integration in education that has resulted in the recognition by Microsoft Corporation for the fourth consecutive year as Showcase School. Inspired by the European Schoolnet’s Future Classroom Lab and the Innovative Educational Environments of the General Directorate of Education, this educational community has decided to create a work space where students and teachers can go further and find answers for the development of 21st century learning scenarios: a personalized workroom – Custom Learning Space – where the center of all activity is the student interacting with other students and teachers. This space will be the base from which students can Investigate, Interact, Create, Develop, Share and Present, enhancing learning with interactivity and technology.
The official ceremony of the inauguration was attended by Freixo’s AE Director Luis Fernandes, Famasete CEO José Barbosa, Mark Sparvell (Senior Manager Education of Microsoft), Victor Mendes (Mayor of Ponte Of Lima) and the Minister of Education, Tiago Brandão Rodrigues.
